Hey Reader, The Old Becomes New Again No, this is not about v-neck sweaters and Chelsea boots, but I do love both. Theyâre both in the closet up north. I will likely don each in the next few weeks while celebrating more holidays. It is supposed to be cold! How âbout you? What can you think of that is suddenly âa thingâ from years past? For doctors, that thing is cash. More and more doctors will provide their services for what many like to refer to as âcash payâ. From physicals to blood draws and labs and even prescriptions, you can get now get a (big) discount if you pay with cash. Seems weâre back in 1975 all of a sudden. I can recall when doctors sent you a bill in the (snail) mail and you paid by paper check by returning via snail mail. Insurance was for hospitalizations and that was it - not for doctors visits. Doctors, like many people, have come to find that insurance isnât what itâs all cracked up to be. Doctors seem to be moving away in droves. Many say they no longer take insurance. If you have yet to hear about DPC, Direct Primary Care, you likely will very soon. DPC is getting legs all over the country. Think of it as an all-you-can-eat-buffet for going to your doctor. And, the United States Congress is in on it, too. On January 1st, a number of new laws take effect that will allow more people to use their Health Savings Accounts to pay cash for DPC subscriptions and a lot more. Cash is definitely king! When you pay cash, for anything healthcare related, you need to use your HSA to save at least 28% on everything you buy. Why wouldnât you take the discount? Have you ever passed up anything at least 28% off? Most people have no idea how an HSA works or the savings they can realize. Things to know about HSAs:
âJoin me at my upcoming workshop on how to properly utilize your HSA. December 29th via Zoom 6:00pm EST If you cannot make the live workshop, Iâll have it recorded for you. If you have questions, send me an email and Iâll be happy to reply. Please feel free to share with your family and friends, especially young adults who have little experience and lots to gain from an HSA! Space is limited and there is an early bird discount at 50% off the $99 price tag. Youâll get way more than your $99 back before the end of the year, if you do it right. It makes a great stocking stuffer, too! Hereâs to safe and joyous holiday season for you and yours. All the best, â |
